On February 27th, 2019, over 100 investors, local government officials, and additional community stakeholders attended the Yavapai County Qualified Opportunity Zones Investment and Development Forum, hosted by Yavapai College.
The event started with a networking lunch, and then Wendy Bridges, the Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Prescott, served as the moderator for the panel of experts, “who are actively involved in creating opportunity funds and building projects in opportunity zones, including the ins and outs of creating a fund, what it takes to get a project off the ground, and how to build a team geared toward success.” The members of this expert panel were:
Brion H. Crum, VP of Wealth Development, Caliber Companies
Daniel Lupien, Principal, Palmer Development Company
Adam Rutherford, CPA, Schutte & Hilgendrof, PLLC
Brett D. Siglin, Member, Jennings Strouss
Robert Witt, Founder, The Opportunity Zone Development Company, LLC
Then, another panel of city, town, and county representatives presented rapid fire overviews of each of their opportunity zones, as well as discussed what types of projects would be prime for their areas. The representatives for each city were:
Haylie Smith, The City of Prescott
Steve Ayers, The Town of Camp Verde
Ben Hooper, The Town of Prescott Valley
Pamela Green, The Town of Wickenburg
David Williams, Yavapai County
Following these rapid fire presentations was a time of networking and deal making.
